RF Wine Cellar, Clyde Hill, WA

Personal Note

After storing my wine in makeshift cellars for many years we began to design our new home.  I knew I wanted a proper wine cellar.  I wanted a functional place to store my growing collection of Washington and Napa Valley wines, with proper temperature and humidity control.  Our architect suggested a consultation with Marc and Kathy Christiansen of Inviniti Cellar Design. After seeing their portfolio and listening to their ideas, I was pretty well convinced they could build out the cellar I was looking for.  Throughout the design of my 3,000 bottle cellar, they worked closely with me on the details of the cellar layout, including the best choice of wood for the racking. To personalize my cellar, they brought in, Steve Howell of Ballard Forge, to create unique hand-forged metal straps for the arched cedar planked ceiling – giving the room an impression of a wine barrel.  For the inside of the custom arched cellar door, I glued hundreds of wine corks that I had collected over the years.  When the cellar was finished and loaded with my wine, it was so beautiful that it ended up being a truly showcase wine cellar – but, more importantly, a very functional cellar.

Thank you Marc & Kathy!
